Sweet black cat Pepper, who
enjoys other cats, playing, and snuggling with stuffed
animals, is looking for a new home.
Pepper Awaits Her Perfect Match
Picasso Veterinary Fund in Action! (July 2008)
Pepper is a sweet, friendly, fully black and beautiful
three-year-old domestic short-hair cat who's had her share of ups
and downs. When her owner/guardian died in May, she had no permanent
place to go — a situation that occurs often when an owner/guardian
has made no provisions
for the care of his or her animal companion in the event of death
or debilitating illness. Pepper's former guardian's daughter, a
college student, took her in temporarily, but was unable to keep
her.
So the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals found
Pepper a home. But unfortunately, within a week of settling in,
trouble began. Pepper's health began to fail, and she was diagnosed
with diabetes. Sadly, her new adopters were not up to the task of
giving Pepper two shots of insulin each day. So the Mayor's Alliance
arranged for Pepper to receive her treatment at ABC
Animal Hospital in Manhattan's East Village while she awaits
a caring soul to give her another chance for a happy home. Pepper's
treatment is being paid for by the Picasso
Veterinary Fund of the Mayor's Alliance.
Pepper's doctors at ABC Animal Hospital, a Mayor's
Alliance Picasso veterinary partner, are optimistic that they can
bring Pepper's blood sugar levels down to the point where her diabetes
can be managed with only oral medication. But for now, she requires
two shots each day, morning and evening.
Pepper enjoys the company of other cats, and she
enjoys playing, and also snuggling with stuffed animals. She's an
extremely even-tempered lady and would make a great addition to
any home.
The Picasso Veterinary Fund
has helped provide Pepper's diabetes treatment while
she awaits adoption into a loving new home.
Might that home be yours? Pepper would be most appreciative,
and will gladly repay your generosity with more love and affection
than you can imagine. The ideal adoptive family will be one that
can provide for Pepper's twice-daily shots until such time, hopefully,
that she can maintain on a pill each day. If you or someone you
know is willing to make that allowance for Pepper, then please contact
us at picasso@AnimalAllianceNYC.org.
Maybe you're not ready to take in Pepper as a member
of your family. But you can become a member of her extended family
by giving generously to the Picasso Veterinary Fund. The fund has
saved the lives of hundreds of wonderful homeless cats and dogs
since 2003, and, with your support, will continue to save precious
lives that otherwise would be lost. The cost for Pepper's treatment
runs approximately $75 each month, and your tax-deductible donation
to the Picasso Veterinary Fund can help pay for her care and
that of many more animals who depend on the fund for their survival.
You can make your tax-deductible donation to the
Picasso Veterinary Fund conveniently online.
